Hyundai Motor Group Creates 'AVP Silicon Valley' ... "City-Level Integrated Intelligence Will Be Realized" [President Lee's U.S. Visit]

Hyundai Motor Group has presented a physical AI vision that aims to apply artificial intelligence to cars, robots and factories, making them intelligent and ultimately building integrated AI infrastructure at the city level. The plan envisions expansion from the intelligence of individual devices such as cars and robots, to the intelligence of specific spaces such as AI factories across the entire production process, and then to city-level integrated intelligence. The company said this is feasible if its manufacturing competitiveness and mobility and robotics technologies are combined with AI infrastructure and algorithms held by big tech companies such as NVIDIA, Waymo and Google DeepMind.
Hyundai Motor Group said on the 26th that it recently established 'AVP Silicon Valley' under its Advanced Vehicle Platform division in Silicon Valley, San Francisco, and appointed a technology expert from a big tech company to lead the unit, taking a preemptive response to physical AI.
Earlier, Chairman Chung Eui-sun attended the 'San Francisco AI Summit' held in San Francisco on the 24th local time and unveiled this physical AI vision. "Hyundai Motor Group is moving beyond the boundaries of traditional automobile manufacturing and is now pushing to transform itself into a physical AI solutions company in areas such as autonomous driving, robotics and AI factories," he said. Chung emphasized, "The ultimate physical AI Hyundai Motor Group is pursuing is to realize city-level integrated intelligence." As part of that effort, Hyundai Motor Group recently launched 'AVP Silicon Valley' and appointed Executive Vice President Jeremy Ma to lead it.
Hyundai Motor Group plans to actively use the infrastructure of Silicon Valley, where world-class technology companies and talent are concentrated, to accelerate future innovation and secure new growth engines.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group and NVIDIA will provide research robot models to universities, research institutes and startups in Korea through a 'Robot Reference Platform' that combines their physical AI capabilities. Through this, the company aims to support technological innovation and talent development related to physical AI in Korea and build an open ecosystem for physical AI.
Chung said, "The results of our cooperation with big tech must become the foundation for the growth of Korea's physical AI industry. To that end, Hyundai Motor Group plans to create an open ecosystem for advancing robot and AI technologies in Korea."
The 'Robot Reference Platform' developed by Hyundai Motor Group and NVIDIA is expected to provide a foundation for domestic research institutions and startups to more easily develop and test physical AI technologies in a standardized hardware and software environment.
