South Korea and U.S. Big Tech Leaders Gather for AI Dinner as Bae Kyung-hoon Picks Up the Tab

[Financial News] Bae Kyung-hoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT, said he paid for the dinner attended by President Lee Jae Myung and global artificial intelligence leaders, including NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, in San Francisco. He described it as "the most valuable dinner bill of the year."
According to the IT industry on the 26th, Bae said on social media the previous day, "At the dinner that followed the San Francisco AI Summit, CEOs leading the world's AI industry gathered in one place." He added, "Since the event was prepared by the Ministry of Science and ICT, I paid for the meal."
He also said, "CEO Jensen Huang suggested ordering more beer and even asked that everyone at the restaurant have their meal paid for, but as a public official, I said that would be difficult."
He added, "Thanks to that, we were able to sit at the same table with CEOs of the world's top AI companies and talk about the future of AI, while also sharing the meaning behind the President's remark that 'people who eat together are family.' I think it was probably the most valuable dinner bill of the year."
After the San Francisco AI Summit on the 24th local time, President Lee visited a local restaurant popular with San Francisco AI researchers and residents, where he had dinner with global AI leaders who had attended the summit.
The Ministry of Science and ICT said the summit led domestic AI companies and global big tech firms to agree to cooperate on semiconductor projects worth about $950 billion, or roughly 1,390 trillion won, as well as on building AI data centers with a combined capacity of 5 gigawatts (GW).
