President Lee Holds Meeting with Korean Residents in the U.S. ... "Without Korean Semiconductors, the Global Industry Would Not Run"

[Financial News, San Francisco (United States) = Choi Jong-geun, Reporter]During his visit to San Francisco, President Lee Jae Myung said on the 25th local time that "a new era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is opening" and added that "I believe a truly new opportunity has come for South Korea."
At the luncheon meeting with Korean residents held at a hotel in downtown San Francisco that day, President Lee said, "Just as a new history began when humanity discovered a new fire, an era will come when we cannot live without AI."
He emphasized, "South Korea has two semiconductor plants, and without those two plants, the global industry would not function. That has completely changed perceptions of South Korea."
President Lee said, "Without South Korea, AI and industrial development are not possible." He added, "For now, it is semiconductors, but in the future, physical AI and countless new industrial fields will emerge. I want to build a South Korea that cannot be left out of that new society, a South Korea that the world cannot move forward without. I want to make South Korea a leader. And that is now actually possible."
He also said, "When I travel abroad, what people often say is usually similar. They want their homeland to be something they can be proud of." He stressed, "That must be the case from now on as well."
President Lee noted, "AI will become a society in which it has a profound impact on companies, industries, the economy, and the real world, and becomes the center of everything." He added, "We must prepare for this in advance at the national level."
He went on to say that, surprisingly, although only about a year has passed, the decision to focus South Korea's future direction on advanced technology and AI has had a major impact in a very short time, and the world is now paying close attention to South Korea.
President Lee stressed, "I hope our overseas Koreans and Korean residents abroad will join us in building an irreplaceable South Korea, and that we can prepare for a new world with hope." He added, "Shouldn't our next generation live better lives than we did and enjoy more opportunities? I will work with all of you to create such a world."
