[Financial News, San Francisco (U.S.) = Reporter Choi Jong-geun]NVIDIA and Brookfield will make a $10 billion investment in Naver.
Lee Hae-jin, chairman of the board of Naver, said at the 'San Francisco AI Summit' in San Francisco on the 24th local time, with President Lee Jae-myung in attendance, that "NVIDIA and Brookfield have decided to invest a huge $10 billion in our company."
He added that he believes it will be "an opportunity for a major transformation and a leap to a new stage." He also emphasized that the two companies' capital, along with their global brands and networks, would create a major opportunity for Naver to scale up its own know-how.
Lee said, "The internet world that Naver envisions is not one where the internet and AI are all dominated and controlled by one or two groups," adding, "To preserve diversity in this world, multiple AI systems must be created and allowed to operate for each country, group, and individual."
He continued, "Through this new stage of growth, Naver will work harder and conduct more technology research for that kind of world," and added, "We will do our utmost to make that world a reality by cooperating with many companies around the world that share this dream."
