Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong Says Combining U.S. AI and Korean Semiconductors Will Drive Faster Innovation

Speaking at the San Francisco AI Summit in San Francisco, the United States, on the same day, attended by President Lee Jae-myung and big tech executives, Lee stressed the importance of technological and industrial cooperation between the United States and the Republic of Korea, saying, "The AI era cannot be opened by the power of any single company or country."
He added, "Building a complete ecosystem, from innovative AI models and cutting-edge semiconductors to data centers and abundant power for stable services, is essential, as is global cooperation across borders."
He went on to say, "The United States has the world's best foundational AI technologies, platforms, and outstanding talent," and added, "The Republic of Korea has unmatched competitiveness in semiconductors, devices, and advanced manufacturing."
Lee said he has been amazed by the speed at which AI is changing life and the world every time he visits Silicon Valley, adding, "It shows how different a future lies ahead of us depending on how we develop and use AI."
On Samsung's role, he said, "Samsung has put into practice its management philosophy of contributing to humanity through technology," and added, "We will continue to pursue innovation for safe AI that enriches people's lives, in step with the global community."
Lee also mentioned a childhood anecdote from President Lee Jae-myung's autobiography. He said, "I was reminded of the president's autobiography, which says that when he was attending elementary school in a remote rural area 50 years ago, he touched a helicopter that had landed in the schoolyard, felt a sense of wonder, and began to dream about the future."
He emphasized, "Just as that boy who first saw a helicopter that day dreamed of the future, Samsung will do everything it can so that the next generation living in the AI era can enjoy even bigger dreams."
