Iran says it will kill one U.S. soldier for each airstrike victim, escalating threats to the highest level

[Financial News] The Iranian military has escalated its retaliation, warning that it will kill one U.S. soldier for each Iranian killed in U.S. airstrikes.
Ali Abdollahi, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, which oversees the Iranian Armed Forces, said in a statement on the 24th (local time) that if an Iranian is killed in a U.S. airstrike, one U.S. soldier will be killed for each victim.
He claimed, "This principle has already been proven on the battlefield against our enemies and has now become a rule of war," adding, "For every martyred Iranian citizen, one U.S. soldier will be eliminated."
The remarks appear to be a response to President Trump's statement on the 20th that "Iran will pay a price many times over for every U.S. soldier it kills."
They are also being interpreted as a sign of possible further retaliation, as U.S. troops have recently been killed in Iran's retaliatory airstrikes on U.S. bases in Jordan. On the 17th, three U.S. service members stationed at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan were killed in an Iranian missile attack, sharply raising the intensity of U.S. airstrikes. The death toll continues to rise.
On the 14th day of armed conflict with the United States, the Iranian Armed Forces also struck U.S. bases in Kuwait and elsewhere. In a statement, they said, "As part of the 25th phase of Operation Thunder, we carried out drone strikes on major U.S. bases located in Kuwait, including Al Duha, Al Adire, and Oreifjan."
The Iranian Armed Forces said, "The threats issued by the President of the United States will only strengthen the resolve and will of the Iranian people and our armed forces," adding, "Any reckless adventurism or attempt to open a new front would amount to nothing more than a repetition and extension of the enemy's strategic mistakes."
