President Lee's first U.S. stop is a big tech sales pitch... "Expecting Anthropic's investment and contributions"

At a hotel in San Francisco that day, Lee met with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and said, "I think I briefly saw you at a lunch gathering in France before, but we did not have a chance to talk personally then. It is a pleasure to meet someone so well known around the world."
He added, "You are also very well known in the Republic of Korea, and because the Republic of Korea plans to significantly expand investment in artificial intelligence, we expect Anthropic's special attention, investment, and contributions."
Amodei responded to Lee's request by saying, "I am grateful that the government of the Republic of Korea has identified artificial intelligence as a top priority, and I believe we can cooperate in many areas."
He continued, "Anthropic also places the highest priority on working with companies. As a business-focused company, we are already working with Korean companies in many areas, and expectations are very high. I recently saw in the Korean media that Anthropic was described as one of the highest-revenue companies among firms in Korea, and I appreciate that. At the national level, I think Korea is carrying out a great deal of very active work."
According to Kang Yoo-jung, senior presidential spokesperson at Cheong Wa Dae, Lee said in his opening remarks, "Korea is the ideal partner for Anthropic to establish a key AI hub in Asia. If Anthropic's world-class AI model capabilities, proven through Mythos, are combined with the Republic of Korea's strengths in semiconductors, AI data centers, and other AI capabilities, as well as the potential of a large-scale AI consumer market, it will create growth opportunities for both sides."
He also stressed, "The Republic of Korea is well positioned to serve as a core AI hub in Asia, and we hope investment and cooperation with domestic companies will expand significantly."
Amodei also highlighted cooperation with Korean semiconductor companies. He explained, "We are working closely with memory manufacturers. Korean memory companies have invested heavily in Anthropic, and we plan to cooperate with them in data centers and many other areas." He added, "We have also signed many memorandums of understanding (MOU) on AI cooperation with the Ministry of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea. Through those agreements, we will conduct testing in AI security and the cyber industry. It is truly exciting to work with Korea."
