China Bans Exports of Dual-Use Goods to 14 EU Companies

[Financial News] China has abruptly banned exports of so-called dual-use goods, which can be used for both civilian and military purposes, to 14 European Union (EU) companies, citing national security concerns.
In a statement on the 24th, the Ministry of Commerce announced, "To safeguard national security and interests, we have decided to add 14 EU entities, including Laferte Group, to the export control list."
The measure took effect immediately on the same day, effectively prohibiting exporters in China from shipping dual-use goods to those companies.
According to the ministry, the sanctioned entities include Rheinmetall AG, Germany's leading defense and auto parts maker, and Vigo Photonics, a Polish company specializing in optoelectronics.
The move is widely seen as retaliation for the EU's recent sanctions package against Russia, which included 14 companies from mainland China and Hong Kong. The ministry made clear that the decision was a direct response to the EU's latest sanctions package.
