[Financial News] A high school student who asked to see a gold bar at a jewelry store and then ran off with it, along with a middle school student who kept watch outside, have been caught by police.
According to police on the 24th, Seoul Jongno Police Station sent the two teenagers, identified as high school student A and middle school student B, to the Prosecutors' Office that day on charges of aggravated theft.
They are accused of stealing a 10-don gold bar worth 7.5 million won from a jewelry store in Jongno District, Seoul, at around 4:25 p.m. on the 17th.
A was found to have asked the store owner to show him the gold bar and then fled with it as soon as it was handed over.
The store owner chased him for about 70 meters and managed to subdue A before handing him over to police. A was also found to have been carrying a weapon in his pocket at the time of the crime.
Police officers who responded to the scene searched the area and urgently arrested B, who had been keeping watch outside the jewelry store.
Police requested arrest warrants for both teenagers, but the Court issued a warrant only for B. The Court said there was no risk that A would destroy evidence.
