CG Invites said on the 24th that it had signed the contract with GenoPath. Under the deal, the company will analyze about 1,200 whole-genome sequencing (WGS) and whole-exome sequencing (WES) datasets this year, and it plans to sequentially carry out analysis services for about 2,400 cases in 2027.
The agreement is significant because it goes beyond a simple analysis service and represents a strategic partnership that combines CG Invites' genomic analysis technology with GenoPath's local testing infrastructure and network of medical institutions. Based on this, the two companies plan to expand cooperation beyond Vietnam into genomic data infrastructure projects across Southeast Asia.
The two companies had been in discussions to introduce genomic testing services, and this contract marks the start of actual service delivery. CG Invites plans to provide stable analysis services to medical institutions in Vietnam and later expand the scope of its analysis targets and services.
Vietnam is a market where investment in genomic data infrastructure and precision medicine is growing rapidly. According to market researcher Grand View Research, Vietnam's genomic analysis market is expected to expand from $163 million in 2023 to $482 million by 2030. As next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based diagnostics spread in areas such as genetic disorders, cancer and rare diseases, demand for genomic data analysis continues to rise steadily.
The two companies also plan to continue discussing follow-up projects to broaden the scope of their analysis services and jointly identify new business opportunities in Southeast Asia, using Vietnam as a base. If additional projects are secured, the company expects the genomic analysis services business to reach about 2 billion won by 2027.
A CG Invites official said, "This contract is an important opportunity to expand the company's accumulated genomic analysis capabilities in Korea into the global market," adding, "We will begin our full-scale expansion into Southeast Asia, starting with Vietnam, and discover various precision medicine cooperation models."
Meanwhile, GenoPath is a Hanoi-based company specializing in genomic and pathology testing. It provides genetic disorder testing, prenatal and newborn screening, pathology testing and molecular diagnostics. The company operates its genomic testing business through a local network of medical institutions and holds ISO 15189:2022 certification, an international standard for clinical laboratory quality.
