KOSDAQ Surges Nearly 5%, Triggering a Buy Sidecar

[Financial News] The KOSDAQ Index jumped more than 4%, triggering a program trading buy-side suspension, known as a buy sidecar. The Korea Exchange said it imposed a temporary halt on program buy orders in the KOSDAQ market at 2:27:10 p.m. that day. The move came after the KOSDAQ 150 Futures Index rose more than 6% from the previous trading day's close and the KOSDAQ 150 Spot Index climbed more than 3% for one minute.
As of 2:57 p.m. that day, the KOSDAQ Index stood at 787.51, up 4.85% from the previous session.
Foreign investors and institutions were net buyers in the KOSDAQ market, purchasing 167.6 billion won and 42.3 billion won worth of shares, respectively. Retail investors were net sellers of 211.6 billion won.
Most of the market-capitalization leaders were strong. Alteogen Inc. surged 13.25%, while EcoPro BM rose 8.19%, EcoPro gained 8.04%, and Rainbow Robotics advanced 6.58%.
