[Financial News] Home appliance makers are increasingly selecting beauty devices as a new growth engine and expanding related product lineups. Their strategy is to broaden their business scope into the beauty device market, which is expected to grow rapidly every year.
According to industry sources on the 23rd, Cuckoo unveiled the 'Medikin Triple Combo Multi Skincare Device,' which allows users to receive professional-level skin care at home. The product combines a range of skin-care technologies, including electroporation (EP), microcurrent and medium-frequency stimulation (EMS), into a single device. Depending on skin condition, each function can be used separately or at the same time.
In fact, the Cuckoo Medikin Triple Combo Multi Skincare Device offers a variety of care modes tailored to skin condition, including the 'Glow Boosting Mode,' which helps absorb active ingredients, the 'Wrinkle Care Mode' using microcurrent, and the 'Triple Solution Mode,' which delivers multiple functions simultaneously. A Cuckoo official said, "To expand the adoption of beauty devices, we will actively support after-sales service based on our nationwide network of more than 180 home appliance service centers," adding, "We will continue to introduce products that can lead the beauty device market."
CERAGEM has also stepped up sales after unveiling its beauty device, the 'MediSpa All-in-One.' The MediSpa All-in-One integrates functions such as dual ultrasound, radio frequency, microcurrent and light-emitting diode (LED), allowing users to experience customized skin care at home. It features more than 50 adjustable modes depending on skin condition.
The MediSpa All-in-One also proved the effectiveness of three modes — 'Total Care,' 'Radiance Care' and 'Soothing Care' — through clinical trials conducted by CERAGEM's clinical research institute, Clinical, which optimized the combination of core skin-care technologies. It also supports a 'one-touch smart care system' that activates five technologies in an effective sequence when a desired mode is selected.
AtHome, which operates the home-appliance brand 'Minix,' is focusing on promoting its beauty brand, 'Tom The Glow Signature.' After recently entering the online store of Lotte Duty Free, The Glow Signature is now sold at all three of Korea's major duty-free chains, following Shinsegae Duty Free and The Shilla Duty Free.
The Glow Signature is a patented ultrasonic device that uses dual cross-frequency ultrasound at 3MHz and 10MHz to deliver energy deep into the stratum corneum. This helps improve skin radiance, elasticity and hydration. Its low-irritation design and intuitive usability have supported steady sales.
The reason home appliance makers are putting more effort into beauty devices is the market's growth potential. According to Samil PwC Management Research Institute, the global beauty device market is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 26%, from $1.4 billion in 2022 to $89.8 billion in 2030.
An industry source said, "Until now, mid-sized and small home appliance makers have focused on environment-related appliances such as water purifiers, air purifiers and bidets, but competition in those markets has recently become increasingly intense," adding, "As a result, there is a growing focus on the beauty device market, which has strong growth potential."
