DPK criticizes Lee Jae Myung administration's plan to break ground on 66,000 homes in Seoul as 'abstract'

[Financial News] The ruling Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) on Tuesday criticized the Lee Jae Myung administration's plan to begin construction on 66,000 homes in Seoul this year, calling it "abstract."
Rep. Bok Ki-wang, the DPK's floor secretary on the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, met with reporters after a ruling party-government consultation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on Tuesday and took issue with the plan to start construction on 268,000 homes this year, including 66,000 in Seoul. He said, "We were told that more than 90% of the target could be achieved, but there was no explanation of 'how.'"
Bok specifically said he asked for the report to be revised to show "which areas can break ground and when."
The DPK's criticism comes amid worsening public sentiment over housing in the Capital Region. Reports said lawmakers from districts in the Capital Region have been pressing for more concrete supply measures.
In the same context, opposition voices within the DPK are also expected to emerge over the government's push to raise the real estate holding tax and reduce the long-term holding special deduction for Capital Gains Tax.
