[Financial News] Coupang Fulfillment Services (CFS) said on the 22nd that it will fully compensate inventory losses suffered by Rocket Growth sellers affected by the fire at its logistics center in Seoknam-dong, Incheon.
CFS said it will include in the compensation all seller inventory stored not only in the area where the fire occurred, but also in sections that were not directly reached by the flames. The move also takes into account the possibility of secondary damage, such as delays in removing inventory and dust contamination.
CFS plans to provide preemptive compensation on its own responsibility even before the fire investigation and insurance settlement process is completed. The company said the goal is to minimize the burden on sellers and help them resume business quickly, given that damage assessments and proof of losses usually take a long time.
Once inventory counts are completed, the company will individually notify sellers of the compensation amount and expected payment date starting in mid-August. It also plans to use its internal systems to verify inventory status and minimize the need for separate, complicated supporting documents such as invoices or packaging videos.
In addition, CFS plans to operate a dedicated counseling channel for sellers, offering one-on-one consultations and support for questions arising during the compensation process and the resumption of business.
A CFS official said, "We sincerely apologize to the sellers who have been troubled by this unexpected accident," adding, "We will do our utmost to provide responsible support so that sellers do not face business difficulties, while also handling the site recovery and supporting local residents."
