YouTuber Bugeyok, accused of threatening Tzuyang, sees compensation increase from 75 million won to 80 million won in appeal trial

/Photo=News1 r n [Financial News] The amount of damages that YouTuber Gujeok (real name Lee Jun-hee) must pay to famous mukbang YouTuber Tzyang (real name Park Jung-won) has been increased to 80 million won in the appeal trial.
According to the legal community, the Seoul Central District Court Civil Appeals Division 12-3 (Presiding Judge Cho Hyu-ok) ruled on the 21st in favor of the plaintiff in part in the damages claim lawsuit filed by Tzyang against Gujeok. The court stated, "As some admitted facts increased, the awarded amount was changed from 75 million won to 80 million won.
" However, among the claims added by Tzyang's side in the appeal, the court did not recognize liability for damages related to Gujeok's act of posting a threatening video in October 2022.
This lawsuit began in September 2024 when Tzyang filed a claim for damages, alleging that she suffered mental distress due to illegal acts by Gujeok and YouTuber Jujak Gambyeolsa (real name Jeon Guk-jin), including being threatened using her private life as leverage and having related videos posted.
The first trial court ruled last October that Gujeok must pay Tzyang 75 million won in compensation. It also determined that Jujak Gambyeolsa is jointly liable with Gujeok to pay 50 million won in compensation. Consequently, both Tzyang and Gujeok appealed the ruling.
Meanwhile, Gujeok was indicted on charges of extorting tens of millions of won from Tzyang through threats and received a final sentence of three years in prison last March. The accomplice, Jujak Detector, was sentenced to one year in prison suspended for three years in the appellate trial and did not appeal to the Supreme Court, so the sentence was finalized.
