[Financial News] Job postings for new hires in the semiconductor sector rose by nearly half in the first half of this year compared with the same period last year. Analysts say the increase is closely tied to the explosive growth in demand for semiconductors, including High Bandwidth Memory and AI accelerators, as the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) takes hold.
JobKorea released its analysis of first-half hiring postings on the 20th. According to the report, the number of postings for new semiconductor hires increased 47% from a year earlier. The share of new-hire postings among all listings also rose 2.4 percentage points to 12.2%, the highest level in the past five years.
Overall semiconductor job postings, including both entry-level and experienced positions, increased 20% year on year in the first half, outpacing the 14% growth seen across all industries. The gain is attributed to active hiring led by major semiconductor companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix.
A JobKorea official said, "SK hynix drew attention last month by conducting open-ended recruitment for new hires and announcing the removal of academic restrictions." The official added, "Samsung Electronics is also seeking talent for 82 roles in its semiconductor division, and expectations are rising for both open recruitment and rolling hiring in the semiconductor sector."
As semiconductor job postings increase, job seekers are showing greater interest as well. For SK hynix, which recently recruited employees, keyword searches on JobKorea rose 180% from a year earlier. The number of companies users bookmarked to receive open-recruitment updates also increased across semiconductor firms.
The official added, "Hiring by companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix is driving the recovery in job postings across the semiconductor sector." The official continued, "Because semiconductor roles require a strong fit and a high level of insight even for new hires, we will support job seekers in strengthening their employment capabilities."
