[Financial News] Cars carrying pregnant women in Seoul will now be eligible for a parking fee discount of up to 50% at public parking lots.
On the 19th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government said it had promulgated and put into effect an amendment to the Seoul Metropolitan Government Parking Lot Installation and Management Ordinance. The revision follows the city’s enactment of the Ordinance on Respect and Support for Pregnant Women.
Under the new rule, vehicles carrying pregnant women can receive a 50% discount on parking fees at public parking lots and other facilities if they present documents proving pregnancy, such as a pregnant-woman app card. The benefit also applies when the pregnant woman is riding in a vehicle driven by a spouse or family member rather than driving herself.
For example, if a pregnant woman visits a hospital or a public facility in a family car, she can receive the discount by showing her pregnant-woman app card when paying for parking.
Discounts are also available for admission fees or usage fees at paid facilities in Hangang Park, urban parks, and the Seoul Hall of Urbanism & Architecture. Sports facilities at water reclamation facilities will also offer a 50% discount, and parking fees at those facilities will be reduced by 50% for vehicles carrying pregnant women.
However, since most areas of Hangang Park and urban parks are free to use, the actual benefit applies mainly when using paid facilities or programs inside the parks.
The standard fees and discount methods for each facility should be confirmed with the relevant operator. To receive the discount, users must carry documents that can verify pregnancy. In some facilities, if two or more discount reasons overlap, only the benefit with the highest reduction rate will be applied.
