According to the Incheon Fire Headquarters on the 19th, the fire that broke out at around 6:54 a.m. the previous day at Coupang's 32nd logistics center in Seoknam-dong, Seohae-gu, Incheon, was still burning past 7 a.m. that day. The facility has a total floor area of 299,000 square meters and eight stories above ground. The fire started on the sixth floor and spread to the seventh. Stacked household goods, which are flammable materials, on the sixth floor, along with the center's large interior space, are hampering firefighting efforts.
A fire official said, "The fire has not spread beyond the sixth and seventh floors of the logistics center," adding, "We expect the extinguishing operation to take a long time."
Fire authorities are maintaining the National Fire Mobilization Order issued at 3:15 p.m. the previous day. At the scene, 198 pieces of equipment, including aerial ladder trucks, high-capacity foam systems and high-performance chemical fire trucks, as well as 549 firefighters and police officers, have been deployed. With thick smoke and intense heat making interior firefighting difficult, crews are using the ramp area on the side of the building to put out the flames.
