[Financial News] Prime Minister Han Seong-sook said, in connection with the concentrated heavy rain in the Capital Region, "It is still raining in many areas, and heavy rain is forecast until tomorrow, so we cannot let our guard down."
At a meeting on heavy-rain response measures held on the 18th at Government Complex Seoul in Jongno District, Seoul, Han said, "Flooding has occurred in homes and on roads, and private property damage has been reported."
He added, "In some areas, including Chungcheong and Gangwon Province, where there has already been significant rainfall, heavy rain is forecast again tonight and early tomorrow morning, so the risk of landslides is high."
Han also urged residents in high-risk areas, including Chungcheong and Gangwon Province, to evacuate before further damage occurs. He said, "I would like to express my sympathy to all citizens who have suffered damage."
He also called on relevant agencies to carry out swift emergency recovery. He said, "I ask the Korea Forest Service (KFS) and local governments to do their utmost so that residents in high-risk areas can evacuate in advance." He added, "In areas affected by heavy rain, please mobilize all available equipment and personnel to carry out emergency recovery quickly and minimize inconvenience for residents."
