[Financial News] The Blue House said on the 15th that Kang Kyung-wha's temporary return home was intended to "hear the ambassador's suggestions and candid views on ways to develop bilateral relations."
A Blue House official explained that day, adding that "temporary returns by ambassadors posted to other countries have also been carried out on this basis."
During her stay in Korea, Kang is expected to brief the foreign minister on local developments and her work status. She also plans to meet with Blue House and relevant ministry officials to discuss ways to advance Seoul-Washington relations and major pending issues.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said the previous day that Kang would return home temporarily for five days, from the 15th to the 19th, at the direction of Foreign Minister Cho Hyun.
Because her return coincided with a series of major Seoul-Washington issues, including pending matters related to Coupang, the implementation of U.S. investment commitments, and shipbuilding cooperation mentioned by U.S. President Donald Trump, some observers speculated that she had been recalled to respond to those issues.
