President Donald Trump said he will deliver a nationwide address at 9 p.m. on the 16th local time. That will be 10 a.m. on the 17th in Korea.
He announced the plan in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, on the 13th.
He did not mention the topic of the speech, but it is likely to focus on the renewed tensions with Iran.
Trump also said on Truth Social that the blockade on Iran would resume, and CENTCOM decided to restart it from the night of the 14th. The move was interpreted as a response to the IRGC's declaration of a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
He also said the United States would impose a 20% transit fee on cargo carried by ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, in response to Iran's collection of transit charges.
Meanwhile, Trump previously used a nationwide address on April 1 to warn of a large-scale airstrike on Iran over the following two to three weeks.
