Jensen Huang, at center of 'Japan passing' controversy, to visit Japan this week [IT item of the day]

[Financial News] Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, who has recently visited a series of Asian countries but had not traveled to Japan, will visit Japan on the 15th.
On the 14th, the IT industry said NVIDIA GeForce JP announced on X that Huang will attend an event in Tokyo on the 15th marking a partnership with Japanese game maker Sega.
NVIDIA said the event will celebrate 30 years of history between NVIDIA and Sega with Japanese gamers.
The relationship between NVIDIA and Sega began in 1996. At the time, NVIDIA was developing graphics chips for Sega's next-generation game console, Dreamcast, and was on the brink of bankruptcy. Sega rescued NVIDIA from the crisis by investing $5 million.
Despite this long-standing connection with Japan, Huang had not visited the country even as he traveled to South Korea and elsewhere, prompting Japanese media to criticize him for 'Japan passing.'
Major Japanese newspapers reported last month on Huang's visit to South Korea and said he had 'passed over Japan.' They also suggested that the reason he skipped Japan was that NVIDIA has relatively few direct partnerships with Japanese companies.
