Park Hong-keun: Next Year's National Tax Revenue to Exceed 500 Trillion Won, a Record High

[Financial News] Minister of Planning and Budget Park Hong-keun said on the 13th that national tax revenue in 2027 is expected to far exceed the original forecast of 412 trillion won, reaching more than 500 trillion won and setting an all-time high.
At the 2026 National Fiscal Strategy Meeting held that day at the Yeongbingwan State Guest House, Park said, "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a priceless source of funding to prepare for the next 20 years of the Republic of Korea."
Park emphasized, "We cannot spend this precious revenue carelessly all at once. The answer is the Future Response Fund," adding that it is "a major shift in fiscal management, overcoming the limits of annual budgets, a strategic investment platform that supports a rebound in potential growth, and a fiscal stabilizer that eases tax revenue volatility."
He also explained, "We will set aside the large-scale revenue increase that exceeds long-term trends in the fund and make concentrated investments in four key areas — the younger generation, growth engines, local regions, and talent — beyond annual spending plans."
Park said, "Total spending for 2027 will be set at more than 10% above the 2026 main budget, reaching an all-time high of more than 800 trillion won." He added, "By combining the increased tax revenue with drastic spending restructuring, we will create the largest-ever room for investment."
