[Financial News] The cause of death of Lindsey Graham, a close ally of Donald Trump and a leading Republican security hawk, was determined to be an aortic dissection caused by atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
According to The Hill on the 12th local time, the Washington, D.C. medical examiner’s office said Graham’s preliminary cause of death was an aortic dissection caused by atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. An aortic dissection is a condition in which the inner wall of the aorta, the body’s main artery, tears. If blood flows into the tear, the artery’s inner and middle layers separate, and it can be fatal if blood leaks outside the artery.
Graham entered politics in 1994 after being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District. He served in both chambers of Congress for 32 years. Since winning a Senate seat in 2002, he had represented South Carolina for more than 23 years.
Early in his political career, Graham strongly criticized Trump. He later became one of Trump’s staunchest allies and was widely regarded as a close confidant. A prominent security hawk in the United States who has long emphasized strengthening the ROK-U.S. Alliance, he consistently spoke out on issues on the Korean Peninsula, including North Korea’s nuclear program and USFK.
