 【Financial News, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia = Reporter Seong Seok-woo】President Lee Jae Myung, who is on a state visit to Mongolia, will present President Ukhna Khurelsukh with a traditional Korean archery set and a smartwatch on the 10th local time.
Blue House senior spokesperson Kang Yoo-jung said in a briefing at the Ulaanbaatar Press Center that day that she had revealed the gifts and dinner schedule for the state dinner attended by the presidential couple.
Kang explained, "The traditional Korean archery set was made using a traditional technique that combines buffalo horn and bamboo," adding, "Archery is a traditional culture shared by both countries." She also noted, "It is one of the three main events of the Naadam Festival, which the presidential couple is scheduled to attend."
A smartwatch with the latest features was also prepared for President Khurelsukh, who enjoys working out.
For Mongolia's first lady, Mrs. Bolortsetseg, the Blue House will present a "mother-of-pearl box with butterfly and vine motifs." The lacquered box is decorated with butterfly and vine patterns on the front and can be used as a jewelry or accessory case.
According to the Blue House, butterflies symbolize happiness and prosperity, while vines represent prosperity and longevity because they spread endlessly. A jade color was also used to evoke Mongolia's vast grasslands and abundant nature.
The dinner menu prepared by the Mongolian side includes smoked salmon, a beef tongue appetizer, and tomato and bell pepper cream soup. Guests will also be served grilled halibut fillet, braised beef cheek, and a Marquis chocolate cake for dessert.
Cultural performances will also be held at the state dinner. Kang said, "Singer Idermungkh has prepared 'Twenty-Eight,' with lyrics by President Lee and music composed by Yoon Il-sang, as well as 'Nine Patterns of Gosure,' performed by the National University of Arts Grand Theater's traditional music troupe together with a dance company, among other cultural performances."
The dinner will be attended by President Lee, First Lady Kim Hye-kyung, President Khurelsukh and his wife, as well as 40 government officials and business leaders from the Korean side. The business leaders include LS Group Chairman Koo Ja-eun, POSCO Holdings Chairman Chang In-hwa, SK Vice Chairman Lee Hyung-hee, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) President Kang Kyung-sung, Hyun Shin-gyun, CEO of LG CNS, Hanwha Investment & Securities CEO Jang Byeong-ho, GS Retail CEO Heo Seo-hong, E-Mart CEO Han Chae-yang, KakaoBank Corp CEO Yun Ho-young, and BGF Retail Co., Ltd. On the morning of the 11th, the final day of the state visit to Mongolia, the presidential couple will attend the Naadam Festival as the official guests of honor.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, they will visit the archery venue, one of the festival's three main events, and the shagai venue to experience Mongolian traditional culture firsthand. Shagai is a traditional Mongolian game that uses sheep ankle bones and is similar to Korea's gonggi or marble game.
The presidential couple will then attend a farewell luncheon hosted by the Mongolian side to mark the successful conclusion of the three-day, two-night state visit and to exchange parting sentiments.
