Wang Xiaofei Responds to Gu Jun-yup and Barbie Hsu Inheritance Dispute: "Children's Interests Come First"

[Financial News]  Wang Xiaofei, the ex-husband of late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, has issued a statement through his lawyer amid controversy over her estate and residence. He explained the protection of his two minor children’s rights and the procedures for handling the inheritance.
According to ETtoday on the 8th local time, Wang Xiaofei released five statements regarding Barbie Hsu's estate through his lawyer.
The controversy erupted after reports addressed the Taipei mansion where Hsu lived before her death and the division of her estate. The reports said Wang Xiaofei had continued paying the mortgage on the mansion, that her current husband Koo Jun-yup had no intention of inheriting it, and that Hsu's mother said she was being forced to "leave the house" without receiving any inheritance.
Wang Xiaofei's side first explained that it had applied to the court for the appointment of a special guardian to protect the rights and interests of the two minor children. It added that a court-appointed lawyer is currently assisting with legal procedures, including the division of the estate.
Regarding the inheritance, it said Wang Xiaofei is managing the two children’s two-thirds share through a dedicated trust account. The remaining one-third, which legally belongs to Koo Jun-yup, will be handled according to his personal plans, and Wang Xiaofei said he respects that decision.
On the mortgage issue, Wang Xiaofei's side rejected the reports as false. It said that after Hsu's death, Wang Xiaofei has been paying the mortgage that should have been borne by the two minor children, and stressed that the property is not currently at risk of auction.
As for Hsu's mother’s living arrangement, it said Wang Xiaofei and the two minor children all agree to continue staying at the current residence. The lawyer said this position had been relayed several times to Hsu's mother's legal representative, and denied the claim, saying, "We have never once asked her to leave the residence."
The lawyer said some media reports and online rumors differ from the facts, causing pain to the parties involved and their families, and asked that unverified reports and speculation stop. Wang Xiaofei said he will continue to prioritize the interests of the two minor children and handle related matters in accordance with the law as he manages the estate, assets, and the children's living arrangements.
Barbie Hsu died on Feb. 2 last year from acute pneumonia while traveling in Japan. She was 48. Since then, Koo Jun-yup has reportedly visited Jinbaoshan Cemetery every day to watch over her grave.
