[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung sent pizza to employees of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) in recognition of their efforts to respond to the Middle East war.
On the 6th, MFDS Commissioner Oh Yu-kyung posted on her Instagram account, along with photos, "The President encouraged MFDS employees with delicious pizza for working hard to stabilize the supply and distribution of infusions, infusion sets, syringes and other items after the Middle East war." She added, "This is the first time in the history of MFDS that the President has sent a pizza gift."
President Lee sent pizza to employees at the MFDS, including those in the Medical Device Safety Bureau. Previously, he had sent pizza and other items as a gesture of encouragement to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, military units and police investigation teams.
As concerns grew over stockpiling of medical products that use petroleum-based raw materials, such as syringes, due to the Middle East war, the MFDS implemented a ban on hoarding syringes and needles. It also deployed a special inspection team and uncovered companies that violated the rules, taking steps to stabilize supply.
Commissioner Oh said, "Working as one team with related ministries, the employees who gave up their weekends and worked with a sense of duty at manufacturing sites and distribution sites were filled with bright smiles of surprise, gratitude and emotion." She added, "With the President's encouragement delivered together with warm pizza, we will work even harder to carefully and thoroughly safeguard the public's food and drug safety."
