[Financial News] The head of a group that has been campaigning to post banners containing claims of election fraud and anti-China messages has come under arrest review.
According to the legal community on the 7th, Kim Ji-hyeon, a senior judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Southern District Court, will hold a pre-arrest detention hearing for two people, including the head of 'Patriotic Banner,' identified only by his surname Kim, in the afternoon on suspicion of violating the Political Funds Act.
They are accused of receiving political funds through an unreported account. Patriotic Banner is said to have produced and installed banners with messages that fueled allegations of election fraud and anti-China sentiment using donations collected through the account of the extraparliamentary party 'Naeilro Miraero.'
Earlier, the anti-corruption investigation unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency received a complaint from the National Election Commission (NEC) in July last year over alleged violations of the Political Funds Act by the head of Naeilro Miraero and others.
After launching an investigation, police raided Kim's home and other locations in Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, in January.
