[Financial News] Korean football has fallen into a triple crisis, with elimination in the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, turmoil over the appointment of a coach, and a leadership vacuum. The government has stepped in to address the situation directly.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold the launch ceremony for the 'K-Football Innovation Committee' at 3 p.m. on the 6th at Seoul Olympic Parktel.
Minister Choi Hwi-young and Park Ji-sung, a member of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) committee, will serve as co-chairs.
Commentators Lee Young-pyo and Park Joo-ho, KSOC President Ryu Seung-min, KFA Secretary General Kim Seung-hee, and Korea Professional Football League Secretary General Jo Yeon-sang will also take part as committee members.
The committee will operate as a temporary body. With coach Hong Myung-bo having resigned and KFA President Jung Mong-gyu having signaled his own resignation, the committee is expected to serve as a guide until a new executive team is launched.
At the launch ceremony, the committee plans to discuss three key tasks: restructuring K-football governance, improving the youth development system, and introducing advanced technology systems.
