[Financial News] A man in his 60s suspected of assaulting a police officer during an on-site inspection by the National Assembly special committee for a parliamentary investigation into the shortage of ballots at the vote-counting center in Olympic Park in Seoul's Songpa District has been taken into custody.
According to the legal community on the 4th, Judge Seong Hyeon-chang of Seoul Eastern District Court held a pretrial detention hearing for A, a man in his 60s suspected of obstructing official duties, and issued an arrest warrant, saying, "There is a risk of flight."
A is accused of pushing and assaulting a police officer while officers were moving participants who had been blocking the entrance during the committee's on-site inspection at the handball gymnasium in Olympic Park on the 2nd. He was arrested at the scene as a suspect caught in the act.
The Seoul Songpa Police Station filed for an arrest warrant for A on charges of obstructing official duties the previous day.
