[Financial News] Prime Minister Han Seong-sook said on the 2nd, "I will make special efforts to spread AI for everyone so that the people of the Republic of Korea can use Artificial Intelligence (AI) better than anyone else in the world."
At her inauguration ceremony held that day at the Government Complex Sejong, Han said, "I will do my utmost to bring tangible changes to the daily lives of the public, from industry and education to healthcare, welfare, and administration."
Han explained, "The world is now fiercely competing for AI leadership," and added, "The speed and success of the AI transformation will determine the Republic of Korea's sustainable growth and future competitiveness."
She also emphasized, "At this point, we need a major shift in our growth strategy and systems, one that integrates AI not only into industry but across the economy and society to drive innovation. With the determination that this is a critical turning point that will decide the future of the Republic of Korea, I will devote all my efforts to discovering and fostering new engines of global super-gap growth."
Han said, "An AI ecosystem equipped with talent, capital, water resources, data centers, and living conditions has become an essential requirement for national competitiveness," and added, "To that end, I will swiftly and boldly rationalize regulations that hold back innovation."
In particular, Han noted, "I believe the development of advanced technology must become a force that changes the lives of all citizens and a foundation for true inclusion and coexistence." She added, "To ensure that the achievements of innovation in AI and other technologies do not fall into a vicious cycle that widens gaps and inequality, the government must work closely and communicate diligently with companies, workers, experts, the National Assembly, and all sectors of society."
Han said, "I will do my utmost to create a virtuous cycle in which the fruits of growth extend beyond large corporations to small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, spread evenly to neighborhood commercial districts and workplaces, and expand opportunities for all citizens while leading to further growth." She added, "Above all, we must open diverse doors of opportunity so that young people and future generations can challenge themselves freely and realize their potential. We must build a strong ladder for their leap forward so they can establish themselves as economic actors."
She also pointed out, "A one-of-a-kind Republic of Korea cannot be achieved by the strength of any single industry or any single region alone," and said, "Under the regional growth map centered on five major hubs and three special zones, each province must stand tall as a hub of innovation."
Han added, "I will fully support regions so they can become the core axis of advanced strategic industries and grow through their own strengths by connecting industry, talent, culture, and resources." She said, "We must open an era of dynamic mutual growth in which region-led growth leads to the leap forward of the entire Republic of Korea."
