Death Toll from Venezuela Earthquake Rises to 2,295... Seven-Day National Mourning Declared

The death toll from the powerful earthquake in Venezuela stood at 2,295 as of April 1 local time, up 352 from the previous day. Venezuela also declared a seven-day national mourning period.
According to AFP and other foreign media, Jorge Rodríguez, President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, said that the number of officially confirmed deaths from the earthquake on the 24th of last month had reached 2,295. The number of injured rose to 11,267.
Delcy Rodríguez, Venezuela's acting president, announced that the country would observe a week of national mourning starting at 6 p.m. that day.
