[Financial News] Ahead of Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has released a teaser video hinting at the addition of a new foldable phone model. The product launch event will be held in London, United Kingdom, on the 22nd local time. Analysts say the teaser suggests the debut of new foldable form factors, including the tentatively named Galaxy Wide Fold, which features a wider aspect ratio. The strategy is seen as an effort to broaden consumer choice while further enhancing the foldable experience.
In the eighth-generation foldable teaser video posted on the company's official global Instagram and YouTube accounts on the 1st, everyday objects such as a long chocolate bar being broken in half and a sticker photo being torn apart reveal the proportions and shape of the new foldable phone.
The message is that, as AI use expands across daily life and mobile devices become a key entry point for AI experiences, Samsung aims to strengthen the core experience of its existing form factors while adding new options to widen the overall experience.
Since launching the industry's first foldable phone, the Samsung Galaxy Fold, in 2018, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has steadily expanded its foldable lineup with models such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z TriFold.
Ahead of the unveiling of its eighth-generation foldable phones, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has signaled a reshaping of the Galaxy foldable lineup.
A Samsung Electronics official said, "This eighth-generation foldable lineup goes beyond asking why foldables matter and answers the question of which foldable is right for me." The official added, "Through this, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. will set a new standard for the foldable category and lead its next stage of growth."
