[Financial News] Prime Minister Han Seong-sook said on the 1st that South Korea is now shifting its status from a country that followed the era of upheaval to one that is leading it.
At her first commute to the Government Complex Seoul that day, Han told reporters, "The government will also move more quickly to match this, and I will do my best in my role so that the necessary policies can be implemented on time."
Han explained, "We will take a bolder approach to investment in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced industries, and we will also actively work to rationalize regulations that could stand in the way of innovation." She added, "We will make sure those results reach people’s daily lives and become opportunities for young people to grow and take a leap forward."
Han also said, "Right now, the language of the public and the private sectors must move together, and the pace of the private sector and the public sector must be aligned. This is a time when major industrial policy has to work." She added, "It means that, with some understanding of industry and from the perspective of understanding the public sector’s language, even if only for a short time, the government should be able to move all at once."
On key policy priorities, Han said, "What the President has emphasized, and what I also believe we must continue, is the idea of a government that saves people’s lives." Referring to suicide prevention policy, she added, "It would be good to treat the parts that are divided across ministries as a shared statistical issue and make further improvements a task for us."
