[Financial News] The Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) on the 1st flatly denied allegations that the government sent Samsung Electronics and SK hynix a notice ordering them to scrap their existing bonus agreements for the "Semiconductor Excess Profit Sharing Scheme."
MOEL also warned that it would strongly respond to the malicious spread of the online claims, which it described as "false information."
The ministry said, "The posts currently circulating online about the 'Semiconductor Excess Profit Sharing Scheme' and 'scrapping bonus agreements' are entirely groundless and contain information that is not true."
Recently, posts have spread on anonymous workplace communities and other online forums claiming that the government sent notices to Samsung Electronics and SK hynix to fully review their existing bonus agreements and design and operate compensation and distribution methods in line with a government-led excess profit sharing policy starting next year.
MOEL, however, said it had not sent any such notice in reality.
The ministry added that it plans to take strong action, including reporting such maliciously spread false posts to investigative authorities.
Meanwhile, MOEL plans to hold a discussion forum later this month on semiconductor profit distribution and related issues. The specific agenda and timing are still being coordinated.
