[Financial News] When French President Emmanuel Macron mentioned joining mine-clearing operations in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran treated the remark as a provocation and warned France not to intervene.
On the 29th local time, Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran's deputy foreign minister, said, "Mine removal will be carried out only by Iran, not by any other country, and we fundamentally do not allow anything, including intervention by other countries."
Macron had earlier said, "France and Oman are working together to ease tensions in the Middle East, and we will move forward with mine-clearing operations in the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with partner countries." Iran drew a clear line in response.
Gharibabadi said, "The current situation is very sensitive and complex," and added, "I strongly urge France not to make the situation worse with provocative remarks."
