U.S. Launches Retaliatory Airstrikes on Iran Over Strait of Hormuz Ship Attack... "Violence Will Be Met With Violence"

[Financial News] The U.S. military launched retaliatory airstrikes against Iran on the 26th local time in response to Iran's attack on a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. Vice President JD Vance said on X that day, "Iran signed the ceasefire agreement. We have complied with that agreement," adding, "If they have any disagreement over how to implement the memorandum of understanding (MOU), they can call me. But violence will be met with violence."
Earlier, the United States and Iran signed and put into effect a memorandum of understanding on ending hostilities on the 18th. Under the agreement, Iran decided to keep the Strait of Hormuz open without tolls for 60 days.

However, Iran attacked the Singapore-flagged container ship Everably early the previous morning as it attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM, which oversees U.S. forces in the Middle East, said U.S. aircraft struck Iran's missile and drone storage sites and coastal radar bases that day.
In a statement posted on X, CENTCOM said, "As a strong response to yesterday's attack on a merchant vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz, units under CENTCOM carried out airstrikes against Iran on the 26th."
It added, "The Iranian military's unjustified attack on a merchant vessel was a clear violation of the ceasefire," and noted that it "undermined freedom of navigation as commercial traffic increasingly moves through this vital international trade route."
The IRGC later said it had struck U.S. bases in the Middle East in response to Washington's violation of the ceasefire.
