[Financial News] The government has decided to provide $5 million in humanitarian aid to Venezuela, which was hit by a powerful earthquake, through international organizations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on the 26th, "The government hopes this support will help restore the affected areas and allow local residents to return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)'s Global Humanitarian Overview for this year, more than 7.9 million people in Venezuela, or over 25% of the population, were already in need of humanitarian assistance because of frequent natural disasters and extreme inflation.
On the 24th local time, a series of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes struck northern Venezuela. So far, more than 200 people have been confirmed dead and more than 4,000 injured.
