[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung said on the 25th that "rising prices are adding to the hardships of daily life" and ordered officials to "quickly draw up emergency measures that can ease the burden of grocery prices and lower the overall inflation pressure on people’s livelihoods."
At the senior aides meeting he chaired at the Blue House, Lee said, "Everyone knows that fuel prices are leading the rise in inflation." He added that price instability is spreading across food items, including agricultural, livestock and fishery products, processed foods, and dining out.
He then stressed that the government must pour all its efforts into stabilizing prices with a heightened sense of urgency and crisis. He also said the Blue House and the government should move quickly to push through bolder measures to stabilize fuel prices, including adjustments to the price cap system.
Lee said that "price stability means stability in people’s livelihoods" and urged the government to firmly build the foundation that "price stability also means stability in state affairs."
