[Financial News] As the use of GLP-1-based obesity treatments rapidly expands in the United States, changes are emerging in the skin-lifting market as well. Demand is rising for treatments that address facial volume loss and sagging skin after rapid weight loss, which is also boosting interest in energy-based devices (EBDs). Classys, which is expanding in the U.S. market, sees this trend as a new growth opportunity and is strengthening its local business.
According to industry sources on the 25th, the so-called "Ozempic face" has recently been creating new demand in the U.S. medical aesthetics market. As more people lose facial fat after using GLP-1-based obesity treatments, cases of reduced skin elasticity and changes in facial contours are increasing.
A survey by Allergan Aesthetics, AbbVie's aesthetics division, also found that 61% of GLP-1 users experienced a loss of volume in the midface area. The share of respondents reporting sagging skin was 50%, while 35% said they had developed wrinkles and deeper skin lines.
Market watchers say these changes could create a new segment distinct from traditional anti-aging demand. As more people seek to restore skin elasticity after weight loss, the use of energy-based devices such as radiofrequency (RF), high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), and lasers is expected to expand further.
Classys is accelerating its U.S. expansion in line with these market changes. Last year, the company launched its monopolar RF device, Volnewmer, in the United States under the EVERESSE brand. This year, it is broadening its lineup with the hybrid RF device QUADESSY.
EVERESSE is a noninvasive lifting device that delivers thermal energy to the dermis using 6.78MHz monopolar RF technology. QUADESSY combines bipolar RF with microneedles to treat both the skin surface and the dermis at the same time, targeting demand for more comprehensive skin improvement.
Investor interest is also continuing. At the JPMorgan Asia-Pacific All-Star Forum and the Jefferies Global Healthcare Conference held in New York this month, the growth potential of the medical aesthetics market after the spread of GLP-1 treatments was one of the main topics. Classys said it also confirmed strong interest from global institutional investors in the long-term growth of the energy-based device market and the competitiveness of its noninvasive RF technology.
Performance is also on an upward trend. Since launching EVERESSE in October last year, Classys has sold more than 300 devices in the U.S., exceeding its annual target. This year, the company expects U.S. revenue to rise by more than 150% from last year as QUADESSY sales are added to EVERESSE consumables revenue.
A Classys official said, "We are continuing to release clinical data on EVERESSE and QUADESSY, while working with local medical professionals to develop treatment protocols." The official added, "We will also expand brand marketing in places such as Times Square in New York and Hollywood to strengthen our presence in the U.S. medical aesthetics market."
