[Financial News] Police have sought an arrest warrant for a woman in her 40s who spat at an officer and hurled abuse at a protest blocking the Jamsil counting center.
The Criminal Division 1 of Seoul Songpa Police Station said on the 25th that it had requested an arrest warrant on the 24th for a woman identified only by her surname Kim, 45, on charges including obstruction of official duties.
Kim is accused of spitting at a police officer and using abusive language on the morning of the 23rd at the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium in Seoul's Songpa District.
She is also accused of saying, "Chinese people’s personal information should be investigated," while taking unauthorized photos of officers deployed at the protest site with her mobile phone and insulting the officers’ family members.
Police arrested Kim at the scene and reportedly considered emergency hospitalization given her condition, but later decided to seek an arrest warrant after determining that the charges were substantiated.
Kim was also known on social networking services as the 'Pink Revolutionary' after appearing at the Jamsil counting center blockade protest wearing a pink skirt and taking an active part in the demonstration.
A pretrial detention hearing for Kim is scheduled to be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Seoul Eastern District Court.
Meanwhile, police are investigating a total of 36 cases related to illegal acts at the Jamsil protest site, including obstruction of business, assault and defamation.
