Portugal's national football team crushed Uzbekistan 5-0 on the 23rd local time, led by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Portugal earned its first win at the 2026 FIFA World Cup thanks to Ronaldo's standout performance, as he scored twice in the second Group K match at Houston Stadium in Texas.
Earlier, Portugal had drawn 1-1 with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in its opening match on the 18th, falling short of expectations for an easy win.
With the victory, Portugal moved to the top of the group with four points, overtaking Colombia, which has three points and has yet to play its second match.
Ronaldo became the first player in World Cup history to score in six different tournaments. Since the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, he has found the net in every edition, bringing his career total to nine World Cup goals.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan, the first Central Asian nation to reach the World Cup finals, suffered a second straight defeat after being overpowered by Portugal.
