KOSPI fluctuates around 9,200 as it watches follow-up talks between the U.S. and Iran [Morning Market Update]

As of 10:15 a.m. that day, KOSPI was up 1.64% from the previous trading day at 9,200.68. The index opened 1.08% lower than the previous session at 8,954.43, then extended its gains and recovered the 9,000 level.
On the Korea Exchange Main Board, individuals and institutions were net buyers of 975 billion won and 427.3 billion won, respectively. Foreign investors, meanwhile, were net sellers of 1.4435 trillion won.
KOSPI appears to be influenced by the progress of follow-up negotiations between the U.S. and Iran. The two countries began talks on the 21st local time to implement the previous Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), but clashes between Israel and Hezbollah are still continuing.
Among the large-cap stocks on the Korea Exchange Main Board, SK hynix rose 4.70% and SK Square gained 8.99%. LG Electronics surged 10.40% on expectations of cooperation with NVIDIA, while Samsung Electronics turned higher and was trading at 360,000 won, up 1.69%. Hyundai Motor Company (-3.67%) and Samsung Life Insurance (-3.32%) were among the decliners.
By sector, publishing and media welfare services rose 3.74%, nonmetals gained 1.64%, and machinery and equipment advanced 1.56%. In contrast, metals fell 2.71%, general services dropped 2.66%, and transportation equipment and parts declined 2.62%.
At the same time, KOSDAQ was down 0.48% from the previous session at 961.93.
