At a Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly that day, party leader Jeong Cheong-rae said, "An organization that cannot recognize its own mistakes and correct them is ultimately a target of change." He added, "President Lee said, 'If the ruling and opposition parties can agree, shouldn't we even pursue a one-point constitutional amendment?' I fully agree."
Jeong said, "To address the recent shortage of ballots and the violation of citizens' voting rights, and to rebuild a trusted election management system, there is now nothing that should be ruled out, including a second National Assembly investigation, a special prosecutor, and even a one-point constitutional amendment, even though the Special Committee on a National Assembly Investigation has just begun its work."
He added, "I urge the People Power Party to stop irresponsible political agitation and smear campaigns, return to the essence of the issue, and join us in protecting citizens' voting rights."
Floor leader Han Byung-do said, "It has now become clear that the recent ballot shortage, which shook the foundation of the constitutional order, can no longer be treated as a matter of responsibility for Rho Tae-ak, the former Chairperson of the National Election Commission, and the officials involved." He added, "NEC reform should be the ultimate goal, as it would address the root cause of the incident and help prevent a recurrence."
Han said, "A constitutional amendment can help restore the constitutional order and public trust in the NEC." He noted that "a sincere approach and in-depth discussion are essential during the amendment process."
He went on to say, "If the opposition parties, including the People Power Party, understand these points, discussions on a constitutional amendment for NEC reform should not be difficult." He added, "Conspiracy theories about election fraud that clearly serve other purposes, or vague positions driven by partisan interests, have no place."
