[Financial News] Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of mediator Pakistan, and Asim Munir, the country's military chief, are traveling to Switzerland to take part in face-to-face talks between the two sides.
According to U.S. media reports on the 21st local time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan said that Sharif and Munir departed for Bürgenstock, Switzerland, the previous day to attend talks related to the implementation of the U.S.-Iran Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on ending hostilities. The ministry said Sharif is expected to hold separate bilateral meetings with the U.S. and Iranian delegations during the talks. It added that Pakistan will continue to support efforts to help the United States and Iran implement the MOU.
The previous day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan said in a statement that follow-up working-level talks would be held after the signing of the U.S.-Iran MOU, and that not only the U.S. and Iranian delegations but also mediator countries such as Pakistan and Qatar would take part.

Under the U.S.-Iran MOU signed on the 17th, the two countries had agreed to begin follow-up negotiations on nuclear issues for 60 days starting on the 19th. However, the face-to-face talks were postponed to later in the day as Israel continued airstrikes on Lebanon.
The U.S. delegation, including Special Envoy for the Middle East Steven Charles Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's eldest son-in-law, arrived in Switzerland earlier. Vice President JD Vance also departed for Switzerland the previous day. Switzerland's Foreign Ministry said that the Iranian negotiating delegation led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, has also arrived.
