[Financial News] Ino Nyang, the popular YouTuber with 6.6 million subscribers, attended the second group-stage match between South Korea and Mexico at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after receiving an official invitation from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). After suffering a racist incident in the opening match, she used the official invitation to send a message of unity and inclusion to football fans around the world.
On the 18th local time, Ino Nyang visited Guadalajara Stadium in Zapopan, Mexico, for the second Group A match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup between South Korea and Mexico, and cheered enthusiastically for the South Korean national team.
The stadium visit came through FIFA's official invitation and the provision of VIP tickets. Ino Nyang had previously been subjected to clearly racist gestures, including eye-slanting motions, by a Mexican man seated behind her while watching South Korea's opening Group A match. As the footage spread rapidly online and across online communities, it sparked strong outrage among football fans at home and abroad, and calls grew louder to eradicate hate speech on the global sports stage.
It was also revealed that the man was Ulises Fernando Bernal Miramontes, the president of the Jalisco Association of Civil, Topographic, Geometric, and Engineering Professionals (CITGEJ). After posting an apology video, Miramontes stepped down from his post.
After learning of the situation, FIFA noted that the South Korea-Mexico match happened to fall on the International Day for Countering Hate Speech. It then sent an official invitation to TEAM Ino Cat, saying it wanted to deliver a message of respect and inclusion at football venues around the world together with Ino Nyang.
Lee Sang-yoon, vice president of Hubio, who handles communications for TEAM Ino Cat, said, "We received contact from FIFA recently and continued discussions, and then were provided with VIP tickets." He added, "Ino Nyang also attended the match with gratitude after receiving FIFA's official invitation."
At the stadium that day, Ino Nyang led the cheering with a bright smile and said, "I was surprised that FIFA invited me. I enjoyed cheering for the World Cup together with the people I met here." She expressed a positive energy.
