Talks between the United States and Iran, which were originally scheduled to begin on the 19th local time in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, were canceled.
Foreign media reported that the White House and the Swiss Foreign Ministry announced the cancellation of the talks.
The White House said the plans related to the talks had not been finalized and that the movement of the U.S. negotiating team, including Vice President J.D. Vance, had been put on hold.
The Swiss Foreign Ministry also announced that the talks had been canceled.
The United States and Iran had been scheduled to begin 60 days of talks in Switzerland under the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to end the war.
The MOU signing ceremony was replaced by a remote electronic signature on the 14th.
Axios reported earlier that Iran's negotiating team also canceled its trip to Switzerland as Israel continued airstrikes on Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon.
Citing sources, Hezbollah-affiliated outlet Al Mayadeen reported that Iran's negotiating team warned the U.S. side that the Lebanon issue would determine whether the talks would be held, continue, or be suspended.
Al Mayadeen said the Israeli military's attacks on areas within 10 kilometers of the Lebanese border are considered a violation of the MOU.
