[Financial News] Koo Yun-cheol, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Economy and Finance, said on the 18th that "with the establishment of the corporation, the Korea-U.S. alliance has evolved into an even stronger partnership that goes beyond the economy and security to encompass advanced strategic industries."
At the founding ceremony held that day at the Korea-U.S. Strategic Investment Corporation headquarters in Sejong City, Koo said, "At the center of a major transformation driven by a reshaping of global supply chains and intensifying competition for technological supremacy, the United States, with the world's best technology and a vast market, and the Republic of Korea, with strong manufacturing innovation capabilities, have joined hands."
Koo added that from traditional strategic industries such as shipbuilding and energy to future advanced industries such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and quantum,
the two countries will combine their strengths and rise together as an irreplaceable key hub in the global supply chain.
He also noted that "as an institution responsible for a total of $350 billion in U.S. investment, the corporation will go beyond simple capital investment and take a bigger step forward to serve as a bridge connecting the industrial ecosystems of the two countries," adding that "based on commercial rationality and strategic considerations, the corporation should pursue investments that create a win-win for both Korea and the United States."
Koo said, "I hope you will actively support Korean companies with outstanding technological capabilities so they can take part in the restructuring of U.S. manufacturing." He added, "As members who have become founding participants today, you are on the front line of this meaningful Korea-U.S. strategic investment. I hope you will take pride in the fact that each task you handle and every concern you consider is connected to the future of the Republic of Korea and the Korea-U.S. alliance."
In particular, Koo said, "American industrialist Henry Ford once said, 'Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.'"
He explained that "today's launch of the Korea-U.S. Strategic Investment Corporation has created an opportunity to broaden and deepen the Korea-U.S. alliance."
Koo added, "Now it is important for companies and corporation staff from both countries to work together with one mind and produce results that lead to a win-win for both sides. I ask business leaders and officials to give this launch of the Korea-U.S. Strategic Investment Corporation special attention and effort so that it can become a historic first step in elevating the strategic alliance between the two countries to a new level."
