President Lee Jae-myung said on the 18th that he had agreed to play golf with U.S. President Donald Trump. He added that First Lady Kim Hye-kyung even made Trump promise by linking pinkies, and that Trump again suggested they play golf together as they parted after the next day's luncheon.
In a post on X, Lee said, "At last night's dinner, we talked about golf, and he said he would play with my wife and me. My wife made him promise by linking pinkies, and when we parted after today's luncheon, he again said we must definitely play golf together."
He added, "I thought it was just a passing remark, but I guess I should get ready."
Lee also revealed what was said during the dinner with Trump. He said, "While having dinner with President Trump last night, we had a deep conversation for about 90 minutes about peace on the Korean Peninsula and South Korea–United States relations, and made a lot of progress."
Trump also gave Lee a pen for signing. Lee explained, "At today's final luncheon, he gave me the signing pen he had been using as a gift," adding, "I think it may have been because he remembered that I had given him the pen I used at our first summit."
Previously, Lee had given Trump the signing pen he used at their first South Korea–United States summit. This time, Trump handed Lee the pen he had been using.
Lee emphasized, "I am grateful to President Trump for his special attention," and added, "South Korea–United States relations are strong and everlasting."
Lee returned home on the day after completing his European trip, which included attending the Group of Seven (G7) summit.
