[Financial News] As the Netflix series "True Education" becomes a global hit, the challenge-driven story of lead actress Jin Ki-joo is drawing fresh attention. Jin Ki-joo left a stable conglomerate job and went on to become an actress after working as a reporter and a model.
Recently, Jin Ki-joo’s email to colleagues when she left Samsung SDS has been gaining attention on online communities and social media. In the email, she wrote, "Because I was able to meet so many wonderful people at my first job, I think it was a great blessing. It was not easy to decide to leave such a good place, but I have a dream that I believe I will regret not pursuing now, 10 or 20 years from now, so I gathered my courage and made the decision."
She added, "They say that getting used to something leads to a frightening kind of resignation. So I drew my sword before it was too late."
She then said her final goodbye to her colleagues, writing, "I hope we can experience more in a bigger world and meet again. They say that to transform yourself, you must kill your former self, but that does not seem to apply to the bonds between people."
Jin Ki-joo graduated from the Department of Computer Engineering at Chung-Ang University (CAU) and joined Samsung SDS. After leaving Samsung SDS, she pursued a career as a reporter. She later entered the Supermodel Contest and began her acting career in 2015 with the drama "Second 20s."
In a past appearance on tvN (Total Variety Network)’s "You Quiz on the Block," Jin Ki-joo said, "Acting is the most unstable profession, but it is the work I love most." Speaking about changing jobs, she said it requires the resolve to give up what one has and explained that it is important to ask oneself whether it is truly the work one wants to do.
Meanwhile, in "True Education," Jin Ki-joo played Im Han-rim, an inspector at the Korean Educational Rights Protection Bureau who protects teachers’ authority, and delivered a strong performance as she subdued delinquent students with fierce discipline and combat skills.
